The Cowboys and Indian Store has been serving the Cowboy Action Shooter for over 7 years by giving them what they want - guns that are smooth and reliable. We are a full service machine shop, specializing in gunsmithing and quality action jobs on 1866/1873/1892 and Marlin rifles, Colts, clones and Ruger pistols, and the 1897 Winchester pump and most double barrel shotguns.
If you want to BE the best, come to the best!
Jim Bowie, proprietor, is the original designer of the one-piece Marlin firing pin and the short stroke kits for the 1866 & 1873 rifles. He has been a gunsmith since his military days in the Army and now an accomplished cowboy gunsmith to the SASS community. Jim is continually looking for ways to improve the cowboy guns to make them run faster and be more reliable.
If you want to BE the best, come to the best!
Services offered include DROS, Handgun Safety Certificates, private party transfers, repairs on cowboy guns as well as most other types of guns including the semi-automatic pistols (Calif legal only please). Our new hours for 2009 are Mon-Fri 10am-4pm, later by appointment.
Many of you have heard about the new restrictions on shipping guns to California. This is only for guns shipped from a FFL holder/dealer to us from any state and to a FFL holder/dealer within California from us. If you own your gun and want to ship it directly to us for work, there are NO RESTRICTIONS. For details, please see the CFLC Program information listed under Instructions (see left column). If you have any further questions, please call us!
Due to the increase in lost orders through the U.S. Post Office via First Class Mail, we will now only ship parts Priority or Express Mail or U.P.S. Guns will continue to be shipped via United Parcel Service as we have had no problems with this method.
